Providence Health & Services Rehabilitation Aide in Kodiak, Alaska

Description:

Providence is calling a Rehabilitation Aide (Physical Therapy, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center in Kodiak, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

In this position you will:

  • Assist with patient care under supervision of professionals duly licensed or certified in their respective professions (i.e. physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists). These activities may include assistance and activities of daily living

  • Function in multiple areas within department and provides cross coverage as needed to deliver services based on training, experience and regulatory requirements

  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment according to hospital maintenance and infection control standards

  • Assist clerical staff with general office procedures and maintenance of department inventory. This includes handling of patient charges and checking them for accuracy, researching and ordering of non stock equipment and supplies, maintenance of patient education files, maintenance of clinic files

  • Prioritize multiple demands in a cost-effective manner. Seek assistance in prioritization of tasks as appropriate. Demonstrate competency and knowledge of specific department equipment

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE: Embrace the Providence Service Standards in all aspects of position. Present and conduct self in a professional manner. Provide support to coworkers and customers while demonstrating service excellence by building positive interpersonal relations to ensure productive and positive relationships are maximized. Develop a deep understanding of customer’s perspectives and needs and works to meet their expectations. Build a culture of true caring by behavior and interactions with others

  • COMMUNICATION/TEAMWORK: Communicate in a compassionate and professional manner to patients, families and visitors. Demonstrate professional interpersonal skills and cooperate with other departments and members of the care delivery team to provide optimal continuity of care to patients and their families. Demonstrate commitment to teamwork and interacts harmoniously with others. Collaborate to ensure team success. Support new orientees in learning department routines

  • CRITICAL THINKING AND ORGANIZATION: Utilize available resources. Recognize errors/problems and take corrective action. Demonstrate effective priority setting and organization skills to promote department flow and cost efficiency. Ensure smooth, efficient services and maximizes comfort and confidentiality for the patient. Anticipate and prioritize workflow and adjusts work assignments to prevent delays and meet work flow demands. Assist with problems resolutions

  • PERSONNEL: Demonstrate knowledge and support of quality improvement goals. Participate in department, facility and organizational projects or committees as assigned.Implement care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers served

  • Complete Competency Plan for assigned job and department

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Licensed as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Alaska

  • 1 year or more of experience or volunteer work in rehabilitation setting

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) provides comprehensive health care to residents and visitors of Kodiak Island. This critical access hospital features 25 acute care beds, including four birthing suites, one OB triage room, and two ICU beds. In addition, the Elder House, PKIMC’s long term care facility, has 22 beds.

PKIMC provides an extensive array of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency department, surgery, laboratory services, maternity, general medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, sleep studies, specialty clinics, diagnostic imaging services and pharmacy and is staffed by a mix of primary care physicians, surgeons and specialists who provide family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics, radiology and general practice.
