Providence Health & Services Mental Health Clinician I in Kodiak, Alaska


Providence is calling a Mental Health Clinician I (School Program, Variable Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Kodiak Mental Health Center in Kodiak, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

This position will be an essential part of the Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) on call rotation.

In this position you will:

  • Provide crisis and emergency services as needed.

  • Be responsible for taking call for emergencies on a rotating basis.

  • Develop treatment plans, record clinical progress, and prepare reports as appropriate to ability level as directed.

  • Provide consultation and education to individuals, agencies, organizations, professionals and individuals as clinically appropriate, while maintaining confidentiality.

  • Provide psychoeducation services to villages and other locations with the borough.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree in social work, psychology or other behavioral health discipline OR a Bachelor’s Degree and actively pursuing an MA or MS in a mental health field - Actively pursing means acceptance into a program and completion of one 3 credit course per semester; Master’s Degree must be obtained within 3 years from date of hire into the position

  • Bachelor's degree candidates must have 1 year of experience in a mental health field

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months of hire

  • Knowledge of practices of psychotherapy, normal human development and functioning, and general characteristics of major mental illnesses as identified in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV (DSM-IV)

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Experience in a mental health related field
