Social Services Clinician in ECF Kodiak at Providence Kodiak Alaska Medical Center

Provide services to patients and their families to meet their medically related social and emotional needs as they impinge on their medical condition, treatment, recovery, and safe transition from one care environment to another. The "Social Services Clinician" works under the direction of the Director of Case Management and Social Services and Social Services Manager of Case Management and Social Services in accordance with standards established by the Social Work profession (NASW Codes of Ethics/ NASW Standards for Clinical Practice/ NASW Standards for Social Work Practice in Health Care Settings). Social Services Clinicians, employed by Providence Alaska Medical Center, will practice the profession of social work as regulated by the Board of Social Work Examiners in the State of Alaska and outlined in the standards of practice and code of ethics from the National Association of Social Workers.

Required qualifications:

  • Master's Degree as a Social Worker from an accredited School of Social Work

Preferred qualifications:

  • Two (2) years acute care Medical Social Work experience

  • Experience with computerized documentation and medical records at the time of hire

About Kodiak Island Medical Center

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) provides comprehensive health care to residents and visitors of Kodiak Island. This critical access hospital features 25 acute care beds, including four birthing suites, one OB triage room, and two ICU beds. In addition, the Elder House, PKIMC’s long term care facility, has 22 beds.

PKIMC provides an extensive array of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency department, surgery, laboratory services, maternity, general medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, sleep studies, specialty clinics, diagnostic imaging services and pharmacy and is staffed by a mix of primary care physicians, surgeons and specialists who provide family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics, radiology and general practice.
