Providence Health & Services Dietary Aide in Kodiak, Alaska
Providence is calling a Dietary Aide ( Dietary , Day Shift, 0.0 FTE) to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center in Kodiak, Alaska. In this position, you will:
The Dietary Aide performs food service duties inclusive of patient tray assembly, conforming exactly to the diet needs’ ordered. Prepares cold food items, snacks and dessert items and nourishment for care center residents, patients, employees and visitors.
Assist the Dietary cooks in food preparation as well as cooking various foods.
Prepares nutritious and appealing food items, adjusting recipes as needed to assure adequate amount of food is made available while minimizing waste.
Cleans all food contact areas and cooking utensils ascertaining cleanliness and proper sanitation relative to and in compliance with the HACCP standards.
Sweep and mop the work, dining, storage areas as well as the coolers and freezers daily.
Responsible for routine cleaning of the refrigerators, ice machines, soda and coffee machines stationed within the entire facility (OR, ER, Acute, Care Center) and logging the date of service on the log sheet provided.
Responsible for opening the cash register, checking out custiomers, and closing out and reconciling the register at the end of each shift.
Relief coverage for different job classification within the department.
Responsible for organization and stocking of inventory items for both food and supplies including cleaning and sanitizing solutions. Check inventory levels regularly advising department manager of inventory level and need. FIFO is done regularly and expiration dates monitored.
Performs all cleaning duties assigned relative to weekly schedules.
Follows correct portion sizes for all foods serviced.
Required qualifications for this position include:
- Certification in food safety and sanitation or the ability to obtain within 90 days of date of hire
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience in food services

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) provides comprehensive health care to residents and visitors of Kodiak Island. This critical access hospital features 25 acute care beds, including four birthing suites, one OB triage room, and two ICU beds. In addition, the Elder House, PKIMC’s long term care facility, has 22 beds.
PKIMC provides an extensive array of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency department, surgery, laboratory services, maternity, general medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, sleep studies, specialty clinics, diagnostic imaging services and pharmacy and is staffed by a mix of primary care physicians, surgeons and specialists who provide family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics, radiology and general practice.
