Providence is calling a Certified Surgical Technologist to the Operating Room ( On Call, 0.0 FTE) at Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center in Kodiak Alaska.

In this position you will:
Perform decontamination of equipment, instruments and completes sterilization process.
Maintain a positive and professional image when interacting with patients, their families, physicians, employees and general public.
Anticipate the needs of the surgeon, as well as emergency and unusual circumstances, acts accordingly to expedite the surgery, and initiates corrective actions.
Provide for the comfort and safety of the patient during the operation.
Appropriately identify and safely transport patients to and from the Operating Room according to procedure.
Set up surgical equipment.
Pick up and receive soiled equipment.
Steam autoclaves and aerators.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School diploma or equivalent
Graduation from a Surgical Technology Program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAAHEP) or other program accredited by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist or completion of a Surgical Technician Military Training program
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
Operating Room experience for candidates who have graduated from an accredited Surgical Technology Program or have completed other accredited programs by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist or completion of a Surgical Technician Military Training program
Candidates with equivalent other or at least 6 months of on the job clinical training must have 1 year operating room experience scrubbing on surgical procedures
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Certification in Sterile Processing

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) provides comprehensive health care to residents and visitors of Kodiak Island. This critical access hospital features 25 acute care beds, including four birthing suites, one OB triage room, and two ICU beds. In addition, the Elder House, PKIMC’s long term care facility, has 22 beds.
PKIMC provides an extensive array of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency department, surgery, laboratory services, maternity, general medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, sleep studies, specialty clinics, diagnostic imaging services and pharmacy and is staffed by a mix of primary care physicians, surgeons and specialists who provide family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics, radiology and general practice.
