Providence Health & Services Admitting Representative in Kodiak, Alaska

Providence is calling an Admitting Representative (Admitting, Variable , 1 FTE, 40 hours per week) to

Providence Kodiak Alaska Medical Center in Kodiak, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivery every day on our

In this position you will:

  • Accurately interviews and retrieves specific information from the patient, family, physician or other representative in a

sensitive, respectful and confidential manner.

  • Oversee the operation of the Switch Board by answers all incoming calls, transfers calls as requested and utilizes the

intercom and page system in a courteous and efficient manner.

  • Accurately enter data in to the computer system within a timely manner, meeting department accuracy standards.

Understands registration and medical terminology. Proficient in the use of admitting functions of EPIC. Monitors work

queues and performs problem resolution/corrective action where needed.

  • Accurately complete documentation for the registration process including obtaining signatures and other related

paperwork in a timely manner. Verifies patient demographics and insurance eligibility and completes all processes

according to facility policy and other regulatory procedures. Processes patient payments and completes hospital call

schedule daily.

  • Is self-directed and displays ability to maintain personal productivity level while working with other team members,

to provide a smooth efficient departmental operation, to allow maximum comfort and confidentiality for the customer.

Anticipates and prioritizes workflow and adjusts work assignments to prevent delays. Able to makes decisions of an

immediate nature and often works without assistance.

  • Responsible to obtain the necessary knowledge and experience to perform job tasks in compliance with federal, State

and local laws, regulations and guidelines. Screens all Medicare patients for insurance eligibility by completing MSPQs

for all Medicare Patient. Completes ABN’s as required, Medicare Messages for inpatient admission, and Medicare

observation paperwork. Obtain and verify picture ID to ensure patient/guarantor identity.

  • Support the quality control and quality assurance programs by supplying and/or developing indicators to measure,

monitor, and report performance to other team members. Seeks input from various customer groups to maintain quality.

Reports any performance improvement suggestions to the department leader.

  • Ensure an effective purchasing process is maintained by requisitioning necessary products and supplies for personnel,

determining necessary quality/quantity requirements, selecting suppliers according to current contracting, arranging for

deliveries, following up on orders, dispensing of equipment and other items when necessary. Develops and/or maintains

department records keeping system, regarding par levels of department supplies. Submit invoices for approval and

processing in a timely manner.

  • Assist with responsibility for obtaining information and expanding job knowledge and competency that reflects current

practice. Role models personal development and education. Evaluates own practice in relation to professional practice

standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules and regulations.

  • Document patient care activities and information in the electronic health record (EMR) in an accurate, concise, and

timely manner. Competent in the input and retrieval of information within the various forms of written and electronic

documentation.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and support of quality improvement goals. Participates in department, facility and organizational

projects or committees as assigned.

  • Complete Competency Plan for assigned job and department.

We are seeking a Rep Admitting

The Admitting Representative is responsible for the collection of demographic information to ensure accuracy for billing purposes by verifying patient information and benefit eligibility for insurance and third party payers. Receives payments and issues receipts on patient accounts as appropriate. Oversee the operation of the Switch Board by answering all incoming calls, transfers, intercom and paging system. Provides general support to patients, families, visitors, and other departments in accordance with Providence philosophy, objectives, policies, procedures and standards. Fosters change and teamwork to ensure constructive relationships and growth, while maintaining a positive and professional image when interacting with patients, their families, physicians, employees and general public.

In this position you will:

o INTERVIEW PROCESS: Accurately interviews and retrieves specific information from the patient, family, physician or other representative in a sensitive, respectful and confidential manner. Identifies potential candidates and notifies financial counselor of possible need for financial assistance. In the absence of the financial counselor, provides appropriate financial documentation to patients.

o SWITCH BOARD: Oversee the operation of the Switch Board by answers all incoming calls, transfers calls as requested and utilizes the intercom and page system in a courteous and efficient manner. Provides general information regarding the facility to patients, their families, doctors, employees and the public. Provides visitor badges to appropriate individuals.

o DATE ENTRY & TECHNICAL EXPERTISE: Accurately enters data in to the computer system within a timely manner, meeting department accuracy standards. Understands registration and medical terminology. Proficient in the use of admitting functions of EPIC. Monitors work queues and performs problem resolution/corrective action where needed. Operates and troubleshoots various office equipment. Monitors alarm panels for alerts and responds appropriately to alarms and drills. Maintains communication with security.

o DOCUMENTATION & PROCESSING: Accurately completes documentation for the registration process including obtaining signatures and other related paperwork in a timely manner. Assists with correcting accounts in the electronic medical record including charge-related work queues and managing denials. Assists with monitoring revenue trends and developing initiatives to implement changes and improve processes to increase revenue and decrease avoidable losses.

o PERSONNEL: Demonstrates knowledge and support of quality improvement goals. Participates in department, facility and organizational projects or committees as assigned.

o Completes Competency Plan for assigned job and department.
